A Holiday Message from Our Family to Yours
It's two days before Christmas, and I'm sitting in our Vancouver office — well, it's more of a very ambitious room above a coffee shop — looking at a whiteboard covered in 2019 highlights, and I'm feeling something I don't always let myself feel: gratitude.
Not the polished, corporate-newsletter kind of gratitude. The real kind. The kind that makes your throat tight and your eyes a little watery when you think about how far you've come.
What a Year
2019 was, by any measure, our biggest year yet. And not just because of the numbers — though the numbers were pretty wild too.
We launched KiddoLab, our baby and toddler toy brand, and watching it grow from an idea scribbled on a napkin to a line of products that parents actually love? That's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Priya and the team poured their hearts into that brand, and it shows.
We sold our millionth RFID sleeve. A million! I still can't say that without shaking my head a little. That's a million people who trusted us to protect something important to them. I don't take that lightly.
We launched Solza and its "You Matter" mission, which turned out to be something our community needed way more than we expected. The messages we've received from people telling us what those two words mean to them... I'll never get tired of reading those.
We also had some spectacular failures (RIP, avocado tool), but those taught us more than any success ever could.
The People Behind the Products
I want to take a second to talk about the team, because they don't get enough credit. These are the people who spend hours testing products until their hands are sore. Who stay late to make sure an order ships on time. Who argue passionately in meetings about whether a shade of blue is "trustworthy" enough for packaging. (That actually happened. For 45 minutes.)
This team is the reason Boxiki works. I might have started this company, but they're the ones who made it something worth believing in.
Thank You
And then there's you. Our customers. Our community. The people who buy our products, leave reviews, send emails, share feedback, and occasionally roast us on social media (fair enough — we earned it with that avocado tool).
Every single thing we do is for you. Not in a marketing-slogan way — in a "we literally think about you when we're deciding whether a product is good enough" way. You're the reason we have standards. You're the reason we keep pushing to be better.
What's Coming in 2020
I can't say too much yet (our team would kill me), but 2020 is going to be big. New brands. New categories. More countries. Better products. And a few surprises that I think are going to make a lot of people very happy.
We're also going to keep being honest, keep failing forward, and keep remembering that at the end of the day, we're just a bunch of people in Vancouver trying to make good stuff for good people.
From our family to yours: happy holidays. Thank you for an incredible year. Thank you for trusting us. And thank you for being part of this story — it wouldn't be the same without you.
Here's to 2020. I have a feeling it's going to be a great one.
With love and gratitude,
Stan
